    300WM Seating depth

    Hi all,

I'm shooting 208 gr ELDM from a Bergara B14 which I find has a really long chamber. My OAL is 3.62" (pretty much mag length) and I'm still about 0.050 / 50 thou off the lands. The accuracy is OK for hunting, but not great - just under 1MOA. I've ladder tested with 76.5gr ADI AR2217 being the preferred load. Federal magnum primers.

So I want to come back to the ADI book length of 3.42" which has a book max of 78gr 2217.

Can anyone run me a test load on Quickload at these two seating depths with all else staying the same? I can't help but feel that even 76.5gr is going to be a compressed load given the length of the 208 pill. All else fails I'll just work up from scratch again.

Can’t help with Quickload, but mine is 3.5” OAL at 20 thou off with 208 ELD-M and 77.7 grains of 2217, 215 GMM, Nosler Custom brass. That is not a compressed load, so yours is unlikely to be too. Mine yields 2984 fps 10 shot average from a 26” Bartlein.

I have found that in my rifles ELD-M likes 10-30 thou of jump and has not done well longer than that, but good luck with yours.

    Cheers
