Thread: 300WM and WSM - what's your go to powder for 180gn pills

Been experimenting with 2217 in WM and RL22 in WSM with some success. Been running IMR4350 in WSM with the lighter 165- 168 gn pills with good results. Interested to learn what other find works well in 180 pills (Berger, AMAX etc).

Na only with the 215's. Im getting 2750 from a 22in barrel....got to 2850 comfortably but the accuracy wasnt there

I like 2213 SC in the 300 Win Mag. When I had my 300 WSM I used 2209.

I'm boring, 180 SSTs in the 300 WM.

300 WSM / 165 gr Speer SPBT / 72.5 gr RL26 / 23" bbl / 3000 fps / ???? fps / 2977 fps / 0.7" group
300 WSM / 180 gr NBT / 72 gr RL26 / 23" bbl / 3000 fps / 2994 fps / 3000 fps / 1.0" group

Winchester cases, Fed 215 primers.

Information, not recommendation - loads were at the top end of the scale powder wise.

Tried RL23 but case did not have enough capacity to get much past 2900 fps with OAL limited by throat in this rifle.

Yeah that matches with what I got with RL22, 2850 - 2890 before hitting pressure signs in WSM

Hmm interesting, using 2213sc in my .300 Blaser Magnum 76g pushing 180AB 3016 with no pressure and excellent accuracy. 77g & 78g gave good speed but pressure started to show
200g ELD-X with 71g are pushed at 2909 and pinpoint.

Have wondered about 2217 or 2225 but can't see the point in changing a good thing
