Thread: 300WSM 165g Scirocco

So looking to put a rifle together running this combo 300WSM 165g Scirocco in Norma brass, 20" barrel with 1:10 twist...

Anyone running this or something similar that may have some load data they can share, I have a variety of Federal and some CCI primers, and of course a range of ADI and some Hodgdon powders.

I found IMR4350 best for a variety of 165 - 168 gn pills, have not tried the Scirrocos though. Weatherby 300WSM 23 in bbl around 3020-3050 fps depending on pill

A mate of mine ran 165 it's with rl17 @3200 fps. Was deadly!

@Monk is that mag length and Tikka? Are you far from max? I've got hornady manual so can look up, pretty sure is lists Reloader17 in 178gr data.

Yip that’s mag length and tikka,Hornady have it listed as 64.0 as max.

Cripes, they would sting at those speeds.

Its wonderful that a 20" barrel does circa 3k. What more would you need for hunting in NZ?
