Thread: 300wsm brass options

Went to the range yesterday and noticed I'm starting to see pressure quite early on with my wsm. 180 grain lrab, 62 grains of 2209 so quite conservative. Extremely accurate load aswel which is a shame. Brass is once fired norma at mag length. (Rem 700)

I have heard norma is very soft so can anyone recommend alternatives?
Mild swipe mark and slightly heavy bolt lift 1 out of 3 shots

Had similar with federal brass in my 300wsm, also rem700 based. Think there was a thread on here a while ago that said Winchester was a bit tougher.

I had the same issue withh Norma Brass, I tried Winchester Brass and it has helped, got an adittional 2 grains of powder in my loads, compared to the norma for no pressure signs.

I have been using winchester brass shooting 200 gr eldx with 62.8 grains reloader 17 which is quite hot. 2 split necks out of 50 on the 4th firing so hopefully will get another 1 or 2 firings from the rest. Have got some once fired norma to try after them so will definitely have to do load development again by the sounds of it

I use winchester, hornady precision hunter factory loads have loose pockets after being fired?? Accurate though

Scratch that, upon further looking they're out. My options are starline, federal and bertram. Any advice welcomed.
