    Hmmm interesting to hear, you had bad experiences with sub 3000MV?

    Not so much bad, but they don't seem to kill anywhere near as quick once they slow down a bit.
    I have used the 30 cal 125s in my 308 at close on 3000fps and 165gn 30cal in my 300wm at 3200fps and I noticed as the range extended (>150 yards for the 308 and >300 yards for the 300wm) the animals didn't drop as fast. Still killed them (reds and sika mostly) but they did tend to travel father than I liked with what was a good chest shot.
    Personally, if launching them at 2860 I would stick to the BTs (which I use in my 7mmRM and have a lot of faith in).
    Experience. What you get just after you needed it.

    No longer a 270 owner @Gibo but did use the 140gn Abs in it when I had it (@3000fps). They were my favourite.

    Does anyone have a starting charge weight for 2206 for 165/168gr projectiles in 308? @Gibo I see you've been using the 165s.

    Am wanting to try some 168 ELD-Ms out in the next few days so need to know roughly where to start for a ladder test.

    Start around 42. You’ll likely go warmer, but it’ll still poke them along to get you going.

    @sambnz i run 46gr 2208 with a 165gr sierra HPBT and shoots 0.5-0.75 MOA out of a 16.5" tikka 308. MV is around 2530fps

    Have loaded up some 168gr ELD-Xs last week. Got them doing 2635 out of a 17" Tikka which is going well. Something around the 43.5gr mark I think of 2206H. Tried going hotter but started getting some ejector marks.

    Shot a couple of goats over the weekend and nearly took the head off the poor things. Neck shot on both at around 70m and both dropped like a sack of potatoes.

    Happy so far.
    Gibo and Shearer like this.
