    .308 Lapua to 7mm08

Anyone doing it? Are you neck turning? I have a little bit of a doughnut at the top of the shoulder, but it seems to chamber fine(it's a semi), extracts easily. I have a box of Lapua .308, 7mm08 brass is expensive for good stuff so it would be good if I can use it.

I use lapua 30-06 and neck it down to 6.5 without any issues.
Once fired it will be fine and the ring should be gone.

I've been using it for a few years now. I didn't need to neck turn and haven't had any issues using the brass whatsoever.

if the doughnut causes trouble with bullet seating you can always get a case neck reamer and ream the inside of the neck to get the bullets seating without any issue.

Oh ok I didn't realise it was for an AR so please forgive my ignorance.

I fully intend to get as much of the brass back as possible, shit's to expensive to fire and forget. The dough nut is on the out side of the case at the neck/shoulder junction, I have no trouble seating projectiles. Just wanted to know if I could go ahead and start charging cases without fear that my rifles gonna kaboom.

So its more a false shoulder than a donut, if it chambers well then it shouldn't be a problem . Iv seen 2 rifles that needed neck turning after necking lapua down to 708. Measure the outside of a fired case from your rifle and a loaded round using your necked down brass. You will need to have some clearance to be sure of consistant functioning. .002 at least for a bolt gun, most of mine are around the 3-4 thou mark.

Roger that. Usually if you have an oversized case in an AR it either won't feed or if it does it locks the action up hard, haven't had that so fingers crossed.
