@mikee, the 168 Amax is G7 .230 and has a bearing surface of .472
Compared to a Scenar G7 of .236 and bearing surface of .390. The Dyer is even shorter at .336.
The chances of getting a 168 Amax loaded with enough powder to be effective in a Palma95 or standard 308 chamber with .050 throat is not good. Most of the guys are running 13 twists for 155gr projectiles, so stabilizing 168s could be a problem as well.
If you go to a 10 twist for heavy projectiles, a long throat and Amax 208 would be a better BC option. The trade-off is higher recoil levels for anything over 185. Gun handling is a real issue with 208s and 230s.
Oh, I just thought they like sounded cheap for a reasonable projectile, If you like to punch paper as much as I do then cost becomes an issue.
