308 projectiles, who's using what for hunting?

I know there is no one stop shop for projectiles but just wanting to know where is a good place to start?

Currently knocking everything over from reds to pigs to goats no troubles with factory 150gr american whitetails.
In recent times I've shot a mature red hind front on chest shot on at 250m, 80lb pig at 150m and a solid billy at 80m all down on the spot, but looking at tightening up my groupings while keeping the knock down power, but purely after a hunting round.

    Who's using what and why?

    Using a tikka t3x .308
    shooting 250m and under
    suppressed with DPT

pic of the billy at 80m, exit wound

GI Joel, Just for clarification, are you gonna go factory or reloading for your ammunition?

I’m using 130gr accubonds. Taken a pig at 255yds and red hind at 180yds. Both one shot kills.

308 projectiles, who's using what for hunting?

Sierra 165gr HPBT, typically very accurate in most rifles and perfect for the range you’re talking.
    Or Barnes 130ttsx going fast

Ok. Got a twist rate for your barrel? It'll help the guys in the know (ie, smarter that me ) to work out out what weight of projie to recommend.

250 and under I would definitely go with a good old lead tip cup and core projectile or the 130gr Barnes ttsx
The barnes are typically accurate and dont bruise a lot of meat but need to be driven fast to work best.
Interlock are another typically accurate projectile designed to work well at those ranges,150gr or 165gr

I have used others but at those ranges out of a 308 thats what have used and would recommend trying.

I'm with Woody on this one. Soft points are utterly reliable and the Gamekings have a really well earned reputation. I've taken one Tahr with one, 90m, 180gr spbt, leaving the muzzle @ 2700. Didn't blow up. Didn't pencil through. Just did the job and smashed it.

    And it was delicious too!

What about the fallow you shot at 300 and something metres with the 150 Nosler Ballistic Tip from your magical 308? That died the required amount. And it was also delicious

130 Barnes ttsx is working well for me. Nothing has moved more than a couple of meters.
