Im just running 2225 in rem brass and its holding up good at about 2880 fps.
2225 is probably the pick at the moment for velocity.
N570 is very good but can be $$$ & hard to get from time to time.
RL33 will give the best/incredible velocity but is extremely thin on the ground at the moment.
I still have 3lbs for testing & there probably won't be any in the country this year, most likely early next year...
Considering it was supposed to be here early this year, when it actually shows up is any ones guess.....
I prefer RP brass.
You only need a 26" barrel to get approx 2800 fps with 2225, keeps them light & compact![]()

Try as I might I just can't get shooters to believe RL33, vv570, and US869 doesn't work south of the Arctic Circle. I never even seen the first two, but I did get three pounds of 869--maybe half pound left now. I'm getting 2990 with 106.7 gr using 300 Berger with Bertram Brass out a 30" Hart. Haven't got enough rounds through the rifle to be confident in the accuracy department with 869. H-1000 just doesn't do very well in any way for this rifle.

Quick correction: NOT 2990fps, but 2927fps, single digit ES, Federal GM215M, and COAL of 3.885. Seems I did try Retumbo and if I remember right it behaved worse that H1000; that record is misplaced, but I can reference it via my targets. Must have a half pound of that. I will need to retest all powders used as I've refined my reloading techniques somewhat particularly the shoulder bump... I'm hoping for 3000fps and single digit ES with the 300 Berger OTM, probably unattainable, but the next challenge is to develop my shooting consistency and accuracy. RL33 may just get me there in this rifle--if I can ever get my hands on some. Meanwhile I'm sure liking the road to that goal; might just be better than attainment!
Thanks Greg how do you find the vhitavouri for
Temp sensitivity? And is there much gained over 2225?
Temp is ok, can do funny things in extreme cold, not generally a problem here.
I don't think there is enough gain over 2225 for the cost involved.
RL33 absolutely spanks it in the cases I have compared them in.
