    416 remmy trajectory

just crunched some numbers for shitz and gigs.
Done a bit of cutting and shutting on a load I did for the 416 back in late 97
    as per notes:
middle of the range load on 340gr Woodleigh's. 76gr of 2206 but did a couple at 75gr with no pressure signs. Book max was 77.5 with a 350 grainer supposedly nudging 2700
    4 shots averaged mid 2700fps
    At 40yds My mate Bobs 3 shot group was 3/4"h x 7/16"w, my 4 shot group was 9/16h x 3/8"w.
Mate who had the old girl for a bit recently did a basic start load and I believe it was chronying over 2500fps but cant remember exactly
Shot a bunch of groups and was better than I" at a hundy on all of them.
The initial starting loads I had made up to get me going were 375 H+H cases and 350 Barnes X points and had no shoulder yet. They don't recoil as much as the 340s but never chronied them. Got a couple left so should do that one day for reference but they also shot under 1" at 100yd.
It just shoots this thing it does.

Strangely the PBR calcs didn't change between them. This was using the JBM calculator.
Still quite useable out to 350 if sighted correctly although I think old mate rezeroed it smack on at 100. Didnt want it rezeroed as I stall had ammo it was sighted in for but that's another story

Put a clicky scope on it mate and your away, Rabbits at 500 plus won't stand a chance, just make sure you hit them right, don't want to go wounding them.

Seriously though I never would have known the calibre was so useful out to a reasonable range,

@jakewire yup a bit flatter when you crunch the numbers than I thought it would be,
One of the reasons the 416's are popular. Flat enough to be useful (if you really have to), for the plains game, more smack than the golden child 375 H+H, a great SD (really good driving penetration) for a DG rifle, so really handy for the big stuff albeit on the small side calibre wise although proponents of the 404 Jeffery and the 416 Rigby
Only put the 5 hundy stuff in as I forgot to take it off. Not too bad out to 400yds
I thought that edited way better than it did

@Moa Hunter the unit I brought out the other day.
Could probably drop a little velocity to keep the recoil down a tad and still stay ok to 300
