44 magnum rifle for deer
Hi All
Now that my mate got himself a 44 mag rossi lever action im thinking to have a crack at hunting some deer with my 44 mag rossi lever gun too since i missed a fallow yesterday with my 308 :wtfsmilie: .
I do reload but i dont have powder or dies etc yet for 44 mag, but if i get into it i might just buy all the stuff to load for it.
What ammo, loads do people use for hunting deer, mainly reds but sika/fallow could be on the cards.
What sort of ranges do you shoot deer at? form what i can see from googlefu is 240gr is the ducks nuts and it maxes out around 120-130 yards
Cheers

yep spot on, good close cover round that stops them quick.

the 240 is middle ground..... have a read of the speil on terminal ballistics.... throws a different spin on it.....

240g xtp bullet over 22.5g of ar2205 with a single turn on the crimp die will kill anything in nz within 120m if you put it in the right place.works well in my Rossi 44,look at my thread of the hunt on the weekend and see the size of the exit hole, deer only went 15m after shot, stopped, wobbled then collapsed.
