    5/16 tap

Does anyone have a 5/16x36tpi tap I could borrow by any chance? Wanting to make a couple of modified cases but seems hornady have used a most uncommon thread on the OAL gauge.

Hornady and the interwebs say its 5/16x36tpi, jus went out to garage to wave the vernier over it an thread measured 7.8 ish which is roughly 310thou damn near on 5/16 and my pitch gauge matches 36tpi. 0.75 metric pitch is way off.

@Magnus, I've got one, bring your cases and I will run the tap in. Prefer not to let my tooling go offsite...

It's become a std procedure- soon as I've got a fired case out of a new rifle/barrel, I make a modified case with it. Will give a far more valid reading than any SAAMI-based one.

As an aside I no longer use the Hornady modified case method to find the lands contact point.
Now use the Alex Wheeler "click" method.

    Just looked at my tap. It's a 5/16 - 36UNS 2B.
Is that what others are using?
