    5.45x39 info

A mate has rebarrelled a rifle into a 5.45x39 which is the infamous AK74 round.

He’s tried a few different projectiles but so far nothing has worked.

Just wondering if anyone has been down this rabbit hole with this calibre and what projectiles/powder you found worked?

Failing that he’s keen to track down some ex army/factory rounds to try

    I’m not sure 🤔

He has an array of projectile weights he’s trying but perhaps it’s finding the right powder, seating depth

might pay to hit up one of ex AK retailers such as Barnaul/Republic arms or maybe steve burley. see if they have any spare projectiles going cheap or advice.

interesting...I asked a few questions about the cartridge some time back...doesnt offer anything over 223..... try some of your 222 friendly projectiles...short in length should stabilize no matter what twist.

Hornady make a bullet for 5.45 - might (yeah, big might at the moment) be lucky to find some in NZ.

In longrange riflery, trajectory is the pure science part. Gravity is a constant for our purposes.
Wind is in the art department.
    Light is pure fucking voodoo.

when mag empty is all over rover.... and the 300blk round fits, chambers and fires in 5.56/223 with shocking results...picking up and using not such a great idea.

a bit like the yarn of the cia strategically dropping the odd bundle of ammo in the sand pit. A few rounds packed with c4 gives a bit of a surprise
