    5.8x42

    Sorry if this has been covered, any experiences with this round? I'd never heard of it until today, despite it having been used by the worlds largest army for 25 years. Sounds like it would be a very handy round, a bit more potent than 5.45x39, similar power but better trajectory than 7.62x39. Are they in NZ?

    I don't think the round is used outside China. It seems to be a calibre and case different to most things in the west.

    Being proprietary to the Chinese military, I don't think it's been submitted to CIP or SAAMI. No manufacturer is going to produce rifles for the civilian market without this.
