Dressmakers pattern paper, wetted and wrapped around projectile and left to dry. Paper shrinks onto projectile as it drys, then tail is cut off. Means a tight fit in mouth of shell and no crimp. In theory lead doesn't touch the bore and paper comes off on exiting the barrel.
