Is anyone shooting the 53gr vmax in a 12 twist? Thinking of loading them in mt 22 250 12 twist howa. There seems plenty people online who use them in 12 twist rifles, but the calc on my applied ballistics app says it wont be stable?
Thoughts?

If you can't kill it with bullets, dont f*ck with it.
Mate swears by them out of his 22 250 lazer pointers

Greetings,
I'm shooting the 60 grain VMax in my I in 12" VSSF .223 which are very accurate. 26" barrel though.
GPM.
Should be fine, 55 gr is middle of the road for them
The 53 V-Max is a fantastic projectile with a higher BC than the 55, 0.254 VS 0.234 and more velocity available
I found they shoot pretty good in 12 twist their minimum twist recommendation but have generally shot better in 8

I think the 53 VMax is -the- best varmint bullet out there for .22 cals. Accurate, best BC for weight by far and very explosive. What's not to like?
I used them in my 1:12 twist .223AI at 3550fps.
They shot great out to around 500m but started to do funny things and tumble after that which was probably due to a loss of stability.
They may go ok out of a 1:12 twist, especially with the extra velocity/more RPM’s the .22-250 will start them off with but a faster twist would be better.
My experience with them in my My Howa .223 1 in 8” is for some reason H2206 just didn’t work , but as soon as I went to Benchmark “ Happy Days “
Before I became interested in heavy for calibre projectiles in regards to the 223 the 53 Vmax was about as good as it gets .
I realise that your interested in the 22-250 which I have no experience in , but as to accuracy and terminal performance.
My opinion is that the 53 Vmax is right up there in regards to “ bang for buck “ .
The increase in velocity that you will achieve in the 22-250 may change things greatly though.
FALL IN LOVE WITH THE NUMBERS , NOT THE IDEA
the 53 vmax is longer than the 60 vmax so will be harder to stabilize. the 53s are very good. but mine is a 1-8
