    55grain SGK and AR2206H

Have a rem m700 in 223, re barrelled with true flight cut to 20 inches. Great accuracy at 24 grains with 2206h and the sierra game king pills, been shooting this load for few years. Chonographed it yesterday and getting average of 2870fps. Anyone an idea what speed I could get if went to 25 grains to up the power a bit for hunting.
Also the rifle has a timney but it doesn't feel as crisp as the timney in my weatherby and has creep that I can feel, not consistent, I have adjusted the weight but the sear engagement I havnt touched I even took a turn off the spring to get the trigger below 3lbs. Compaired to the timney in the weatherby this is shit and I use the rifle a lot for target and hunting. I have 3 timney triggers and this is the worst.

I use same bullet in my mod 7 with 18" barrel, 27gr of 2208 gives close on 3100 fps and excellent accuracy.

You should be able to get them going a lot faster if you work up to 26gr. As a point of reference out of my 22" .223 I have 75gr A max doing 2960 with 24grs 2206H. I think from memory I had 55's doing right around 3000 with BM2.

ok ill work up the load and see how the accuracy goes, least I have a bench mark to go back to, was more wondering about the killing power at that speed, mate wants me to load some for him to go after deer in the new year and I read the game king will work if you place yr shots and don't go after anything to big.

Cant see 100fps or so making any difference to killing power if the shot is in the right place to start with?

2800 is a good baseline for killing with a .223. Ideally you want everything you can get.

Update, new load at 24.5grains of 2206h and the 55grain SGK his gone from 2870fps (24.0 grains) to 3050fps and the accuracy is still around 1/2 inch for 3 shots, so half a grain increase has given 180fps faster which is more than I expected.
