Would it be better to neck up 25 06 or can 30 06 cases simply be necked down by a pass though a 6.5 06 die
or
Run the 30 06 cases though a 270 die then the 6.5.

Yeah thats what I'm thinking, pity as I have a heap of 30 06 brass.
I tried 270 brass as I had a shit tonne but wouldn't chamber with out a neck turn so it became to much hassle went with 2506 brass. Where are you located I could put a piece of 3006 brass through my 6.5 06 die and see if it works for you

Shouldn't you be looking for 6.5-06AI dies?

Yes, I've emailed Brownells, Midway and Redding about this
I have 6.5 06AI - got dies from Brownells. Neck down 270 brass then fire form to AI. Never had to neck turn.
Used 3006 lapua in mine and had to neck turn a shit load off them, all depends what your neck spec is

Use 2506 in mine, not ai though, run through die and away.
Seems like a lot of dicking around for a round that wont do anything a 270 cant do...
If your using boat tail bullets they will seat in new 25 06 brass without resizing and shoot just as well.
Always been curious about this cal bought a 3006 that might become one oneday
Do it.
I had a 26" barrel for my blaser. A mate got his blaser done in the same but with a 23" barrel and didn't loose much if anything compared to mine.
Sadly mine got destroyed when being renamed to the AI version. (waste of time going AI in the 06 imo)
Went with the 260 AI which gives similar performance in a short action but I prefer the 06 version.
Was just easier all round to work with.
I have for a while been thinking of going back to a 6.5-06 but in a shorter barrel.

I had a 2506 with a shot out bbl, decided the 6.5 cal was going to give me more options
I have a friend who just seats 6.5 boat tail bullets straight into 25-06 brass without resizing.
You gotta love the 06 family, they all work well. Never had a 6.5 version but I bet it would be excellent for long range work.
