    6.5 143 ELD-X, are they THE 6.5 hunting bullet?

Hey guys, those that are and aren't using the ELD-X in 6.5, I know any bullet will kill if its in the right spot, do I need this one?

The 6.5s are hard to get and I've already got a few of the Nosler BT 140 grain bullets, should I throw them away and start again with the ELD-X?

I've been tossing up whether or not to dual load as I've also got a couple hundred 147 ELD-M.

In typing this I'm realizing that I may be overthinking it.

Yeah I think that's exactly what I'll do, just needed to see it in writing I think

Some speer soft points and a middle powder charge should do it.

Long term going forward change to either ELDX or ELDM they are both awesome and easy to get at the moment.
Nosler are way more expensive and very very hard to find.

Don't throw away your Noslars but don't be worried about the 6.5 ELDX they are a very good bullet. We use them in a 260 and 6.5 x 55 with great effect. We have recovered a few from various deer one my brother in law shot at 528 yards which expanded into a perfect mushroom. I shot my biggest sambar stag at about 40 yards and found bullet by flank after penetrating from shoulder then angled out through gut to flank, it took out the heart etc.Name: P1030203.JPG

I’d just use the 147 eldms for everything

My concern with the ELD-M is they may be bit soft up close coming out if the PRC, I have no experience with this caliber so hoping for a bit of feedback on the Noslers and ELD-X specifically. I have heard that the ELD-M are a good all rounder but haven't used them myself, just need to get a load sorted and get out and get something on the deck with them and I'll be away.

ELDX are the purpose built hunting bullet. I exclusively use them, love them and they are an inherently accurate.

They wouldn’t be my first choice for bush shooting, if I shot mainly under 100yrds I would find a lead tip bullet with a low BC

I have used the 143 ELD-X’s for both hunting and comp shooting. Great projectile and my preference if you can get them.
140 SP Interlocks blows big holes through goats. Effective, but messy.
140 SST’s my second choice if I am out of ELD-X’s. Seem to work just as well as ELD-X’s.

I have not used ELD-M’s for hunting, but here is an interesting test: https://youtu.be/Xm8wAXkVaxU

Nbt is better if shooting in your prc the eldx might be to fast where their prone to failure I’d use the 147 once you have ran out of Nbt or the lrab is another goodie

Load the 143, go hunting, see how they go. If you don't like them, try something else. Trial and error, enjoy the process

I'm currently having 129LRAB loaded for my PRC, will see how they go

Tested the 162 eldm up close going 3000fps and they work darn well no experience with the 147
