Thread: 6.5 CM loads

Just after some info from you creedmoor owners on the forum.

I am developing a load for a mates HCR with 23" barrel (cut down from 24" for supp)

I have been searching uncle google and been finding some outrageous and underwhelming results from all over.

Some claiming 3000fps with 140 class bullets using the same charge I am now in a shorter barrel😆

I can't find much with 130 class projectiles. Anyone using 129-130 exclusively and mind sharing your load.

I have RL-17, super, win 760 and 2209
Not wanting to use 17 as it isn't always available even tho it seems to go well in the CM by some accounts.

I don't know much about the cal but thinking 2800 - 2850 is achievable with 130 class projectiles?
Have it shooting well at 2750 now with 129 interlock and 2800 with 123 Amax at 6m according to the radar.
Both will gain a bit in the summer.

Happy to settle there to be honest but if there is a load I could try I am keen to see if I can improve on it.

I was loading 45 to 47grn of Hodgdon Superformance with 143grn ELDX ran them up to mid 2900 from memory with a 22" barrel chambered for the longer pills

That is screaming by all the data I have browsed. I have a bit of room to boost the superperformance load. I will go up a bit and see what happens. All new brass. Will see what formed stuff does.

I did a ladder with 130gr Sierra Matchkings in Hornady brass, federal Match primers, and found 42.2g of 2209 gave best results (2640fps). About to try same load out in some new Lapua small pocket brass and Hornady ELD-M 130gr. I'll tell you how they go and how fast once I try them this Friday.
