    6.5 x 55 (T3) 143g eldx 7828ssc ladder test

Ive not long purchased a T3 Superlight in 6.5x55 and have started working on a load with the 143 gr eld-x.

I had a nice accurate load with 46.5g of 2209, running at 2780 fps. But was keen to see if i could get it going a bit quicker while keeping accuracy by using a different powder, i found some load data on the net using IMR 7828ssc that appeared to give a bit more speed. I already had this powder at home as i use it in Dads short barreled 243.

After double checking it thru Quickload, I loaded up a 5 round ladder test from 49.5gr to 51.5gr in .5gr steps. I got to 2900 on the chrony at 51gr but found pressure there with heavy bolt lift and a slight ejector stamp on the case head, so didnt fire the last load.

Here's the results, i think it likes it. Will do further testing at distance with 50.5gr

You may run into pressure issues at 50.5 as well when it warms up

must say I have been pretty impressed with these new projectiles as the amax were bloody hard to beat.

Yes, i was thinking the same, cheers. I'll test groups at 50gr as well, and would be quite happy to drop back to that.

Nice! These bloody tikkas just shoot eh, unreal. While at the range i put two shots on top of each other at 400 yards with my 46.5gr of 2209 load.

Are you find the eld-x more accurate /easier to load for than the Amax were?

I keep trying to tell people to try slower powders in the Swede! have run 50gn 7828 from the get go in mine, first with the 140Berger and Amax and now with the ELD. 2700fps with my 18" barrel, a little more with the Amax and a little more again with the Berger. 09 for the light pills though.

There doesn't seem to be much difference between 7828 and N560 in performance.

IMR4831 has always been good too, but 50 fps behind. R22 too. That's what I used before N560 arrived 15 or so years ago. Now you young bucks have stumbled onto 7828 and think you are being thoroughly modern...and us old farts new all of the time that slower powders worked in the Swede

I'm still shooting AMax in mine.

Yeah, i havnt actually tried N560 as yet, but from all the homework ive done thus far it appears to give very similar results to 7828ssc. N560 is just shit loads more expensive!

Bullet performance post....piss off if offended buy blood and guts
These 143eldx pills are bloody fantastic imo.
Must of shot 30-40 in the past few months with it, no animals have moved at all.
    Sako 260 with the 143 doing 2950.
These where shot last night between 290 and 490 yards.
