MY 20" PRC is consistently 80 fps quicker across all weights (up to 143 grns) than my 21.5" 6x55. 57 grns of powder V 50.5 grns.

Correcting for barrel length the advantage for the PRC is circa 120 fps.

Some brass is probably up to 4-5 times in one .260 and would probably expect 6-8 times but will probably loose most before then.
The .260 and Creedmoor is a very efficient case.

The bits ready for the gunsmith (Greg at Custom Guns) to build my faux 6.5 PRC - its a 6.5x284.

Savage stainless short action from @MMC Barltelin featherweight 1:7.5 twist barrel to finish at a tad over 24" and threaded 14x1- supplied by @camowsm . Accu-Stock was already in hand.

I went 6.5-284 because it's a .473 boltface and I don't really want to go to magnum boltface actions - is for all intents and purposes the same case capacity (and therefore ballistics) as the 6.5 PRC.

Are you going to run shorter lower weight bullets or can gunsmith trick it up somehow like a tikka? Used to have a Savage 6.5 x 284, think it was based on a long action?

Yup, gonna run a "mag length 3.0" 130 or 140 load at about 2800-2900 for its main course and decent barrel life, with a "long load" using 156's (hopefully) as snotty as possible.

Got. One out for first shots last night. Factory ammo test only. Both a bit lethargic with the Norma 143 running 2700 and the eldx running 2830 out of a 22 inch barrel. Both shot well enough though with hornady printing some nice groups hovering around 1/2 moa. Pussy cat to shoot, noticeably lighter recoil than my 284.

Will get a load going this week. Have 140 & 147 eldm on hand as well as 140 vld hunters. Might play with the hunters as havnt mucked around with berger much. Will be over rl25 as that's all I could find.
