6.5WSM Reloading data

G'day all,

First post here so take it easy - I'm in NSW/Aus and have recently acquired a Kimber Montana 6.5-300WSM built by your very own Abe (tui_man2) at some stage and I just wanted to get a complete picture of load data for this cal as I have not owned one of these before. I have PM'd Abe but he's either busy or has a full inbox so will throw it out there for everyone else until he gets a chance to reply. Please feel free to comment on what I have so far and correct anything I'm wrong about. I do know from previous owner who is on here that it was spitting 140 Bergers at 3250-3300.

Start with:
270WSM brass (Winchester atm as there is no Norma in Oz for at least 12 months)
Run once through 6.5-300WSM Redding FLS die
Trim case length 2.9" ??
Neck turning NOT required ??
Federal 215M primer
64 to 65gr AR2225
140 Berger Hunting VLD loaded to 3" OAL ??

I'm happy to exclusively run 140 VLDs at this stage but wouldn't mind your best loads of a 120/123gr projie as well, in case I feel like mixing it up.

who did you get it off? I had one using the 140vlds and the 130 swift siroccos built on a Kimber buy Abe also

I believe it was off Hart_Hunter on here although that's not where I saw it first. I saw some pics of yours mate and while similar I don't think its the same gun.

Care to share your VLD loads including trim length and COAL?

Gunworks in Christchurch have some Norma 270WSM cases in stock if you are desperate.
But its probaby more expensive than what you pay in OZ and not sure what your state's import laws are like, I assume its a nightmare for anything to do with firearms.

Cannot help you with load data, but I do use Winchester 270WSM brass and am more than happy with it.

Have often thought a 6.5WSM would be the goods!

Jase I'm in New Zealand ATM and am heading to catch up with abe next Thursday. He is out chasing tarh with his old man ATM. I totally forgot to reply to ya message, I've been flat out with the wedding now honeymoon. I'll get some info when I get to abes joint for ya, sorry I don't use the forum much either

All good mate, Abe pm'd me whatever you's had worked out plus chamber specs so I think I'm set. Will post here with how I go when run the first few through in a fortnight or so.
