    6.5x55 blanks

Been asked to make some blanks for a salute at a funeral.
Thought I'd use pistol or shotgun powder with some dacron on top.
Or would trail boss be better. Just need to make a reasonable bang.
Any ideas. I've got lots of powder types.

I did some case forming once, using pistol powder with the rest of the case filled up with cornflower. Made enough "bang" that dopey neighbors 300M away called the cops about "shooting" luckily cops were as dumb as neighbors and they went door to door on the wrong road!

Those blanks with wooden projectiles are filled with black powder and the projectile would certainly be lethal.Firing one in the garage is definitionally a bad idea.
My thought would be to use 303's and Ballistite blanks which are very common or if wed to 6.5x55 use black powder as 12 Gauge blanks used for starting races did with great success.

The bloke who's funeral it is wants his rifle used.
Tried 6gr of 700x with dacron jammed in the case. made a reasonable bang.

do not use wooden projectile...they are leathal....
sounds like your onto the right idea. if only a single round/feed is needed its not going to be tricky, even a bit of scrunched up tissue t ohold powder in the case will be enough.

Yea the military rifles had an attachment that broke the wood up. But not a good idea around a crowd

Just try a primer alone in a resized case. See what you think.
