    Cool 6.5x68 Load Data

Alrighty trendsetters, who out there has some fancy fandangled computer thingie that can supply me with some sensible load data for the delightful RWS 6.5x68...

I have this development coming along so want to see what I can achieve with it, once I have a sensible starting point.

I have RWS brass and will primarily run Nosler LRAB in 129g and 142g with perhaps a the RWS 127g KS and 140g DK pills as well.

Any feedback assistance will be greatly appreciated, might even have a small tipple in return.

    Cheers Craig

ADI website has AR2213SC as their selected powder for this cartridge.
Most of the bullet weights you've mentioned are there, but even ADI has very little information.

Nick Harvey has it in his book it looks like its a direct copy of the ADI data. He does make the comment that load data for the .264 Win Mag can be substituted.

    Have fun

If you have a 24" barrel Quickload says you'l get close to 3200 fps with the likes of 2218 and a 142, and a bit over 3300 with the 129's with 2218 or N570. I'd confidently predict you'll be rebarreling pretty regularly if you try and get above these velocities

Thanks chaps, running a 22" 1:8 twist, not going for super hot, and not going to be continuously popping pills, might only get one shot in trip, going to be my lightweight semi long range, hoping 800m

Have seen the ADI book, and found a little here and there... It's be a slow work up.

I have heard .264WM is very similar so will look at it.

Will look at some options on ADI 2225, H4350, and if I can find any R 905 that'll be a go based on some RWS info.

Ah well a good little project anyway, can't wait for the carbon stock to be finished.

    But hey, anymore is great....

@300_BLK, Patience grasshopper, Stock is being made, bits are coming from far flung lands and the rifle has some work to be done before a final Cerakote job... speaking of which, home on the 13th lol

    Greetings,
The 6.5x65 and the 6.5x68 are two completely different cartridges. The 6.5x65 is more like the 6.5-06 and the 6.5x68 more like the .264 Win Mag.

    Greetings again,
I remembered that Charles Benke had done some load testing on the 6.5x68 which appeared in Handloader in 1990. A lot has changed since then and most of the projectiles would not be used in the cartridge today. The full load data is available on load data dotcom. The data would not have been pressure tested and his load for the 140 grain Sierra HPTBT at 65 grains of H4831 for 3,150 fps seems pretty hot to me. The cases were RWS and the primers Federal 215 barrel length 22.3 inches. ADI, in their 2000 guide, lists 63 grains of AR2213SC with an unspecified 140 grain projectile for 2,993 fps in a 25 inch barrel for comparison. Hodgdon does not list the 6.5x68 so I doubt if any of this data has been pressure tested.
    Regards Grandpamac.
