Thread: 7-08 and 150 ELDX

Anyone loading these just keen to know what powder I started a ladder with 2208 but it maybe a bit fast burning.

Have loaded these for friends , 40 grs of 2208 gave 2700 fps in a tikka t3 and 41 grs of 2208 gave 2740 fps in a Ruger Hawkeye. Those bullets worked very well in those rifles. The loads are up there so work up to them.

I'll be starting load development this week with 150gn eldx and 2209 for my 17" barrrel 708
Will start a thread at some stage.

The factory loaded hornandy precision sees me at a little over 2500fps, so hoping I can claw back a little velocity after my barrel chop but in reality even at that velocity it's enough to a reasonable distance.

Awesome I started at 40.5 and got stamping so I've gone down to 38 and are going up from there

20" tikka, 2208 , 41gn = 2630fps. Stupidly accurate and no preasure signs in my rifle. Note high capacity Winchester brass and longer COAL.(73mm)

I run them with RL16 in my 7-08, get 2750fps from 22 in bbl.

I initially tried RL17 and got more velocity but accuracy node was on the edge of overpressure, got a bit funky come summer. Lower node was no faster than 2208. RL16 probably a good option if you can find it! That said nothing wrong with 2208
