    7.5x55mm Swiss

I've recently acquired a rather nice 1950 vintage Swiss Karabiner K31 straight-pull rifle. Surplus GP11 ammo for this is almost unobtainable in the UK, but I've got a supply of Prvi Partizan unfired brass and 178gr A-Max bullets for it.

I'm looking for proven load data - has anyone here got experience with 7.5x55mm loads, can anyone suggest any good data?

    Thanks.
    Rob

Take Aim at Rifle Reloading Data | Hodgdon Reloading is your friend just use the data for 180 grain projectile and work up a load for your rifle

Thanks for that Hunter308 - I'll take a look. I don't know if the US panic-buy is affecting you guys in NZ, but most US-brand powders (including Hodgdon) are in very short supply here at present, but I'm sure I'll find something.

I don't think so unless some are rebranded as something else - I think some of the Alliant range are made in Oz.

In theory we're supposed to be able to obtain most US brands, but during the Obama period things have been more and more difficult for us with powder/bullets/powders.

Our most reliable supplies are European-made - Vihtavuori (Finland) and more recently Reload Swiss RS which are starting to trickle into the country. Not sure if you get Vihtavuori down there but they have a fantastic range.

We do get vihatavouri powders here but you need a tube of KY Jelly to take the arse reaming you get on the price of the stuff a bit easier. We do get alliant, Hodgdon (most of thier powder is made in australia), IMR, Winchester and ADI (they make powder for hodgdon). I think vihatavouri has an online data manual as well you could take a look at for load data too

Yes - Vihtavuori isn't cheap here, but I've used their powders for the best part of thirty years for all everything but .222Rem.

To be honest Vihtavuori is my most likely choice, they suggest N140/N150/N540 - I've got a reasonable supply of N140.

    Look here http://www.nzhuntingandshooting.co.n...ss-ammo-14739/

My usual powder is ADI 2209 (aka Hodgdon H4350).

If you look up the ADI website you will find their powder equivalents listing.
    http://www.adi-powders.com.au/handlo...quivalents.asp

I also have a large quantity of VVN140 so tried some of that recently. Just used the load data from the VV website.
N140, which normally gives excellent results in the other calibres I use it in was disappointing in the Swiss - poor accuracy and large ES.

I have also seen a posting somewhere with a load using 4064 and 155gr projectiles.

If you trawl around on the web you will find heaps of data on the 7.5x55 including loads.
This guy has posted a lot of data http://www.swissrifles.com/sr/pierre/data.html

Thanks - H4350 is available here under normal circumstances, but may be sketchy at present.
