I'm new to the caliber and will be looking at a prjectile for general hunting 50 yars out to 300 ish . It's a Remington with a 20 inch barrel , what's a good powder choice also .

140g Nolser Ballistic Tip
41-43g of ADI 2208
Federal 210 primer
120 gr Nosler is good as well, same jacket as 140 apparently, and you can get them upto 3000fps easy
I use 162 amax for long range gongs
For varminting I use the sierra 100gr hp
I've been enjoying the 140 VLD's so far, but if you're only looking for performance out to 300ish, they might be a bit pricey compared to others that will do just fine in that bracket.
Thanks for that . Must be a good combo . "Sold out "7projectile and primers . What's with the primers ? It Seems like they are quite often hard to get ? Is there another that's less Likely to be problem to get , now and future ?
My friend is doing bloody well with 140 gamekings I think its a grain or 2 below book max of 2208 or 2209 he cracked touching groups without any load development out of his sako a7. Seems to be dropping deer well too
The Nolser 120BT is a weird projectile. They use the same jacket as the 140 BT, but becuase the 120 bt is shorter the jacket is thicker at the tip.
140BT on left 120BT on right
Attachment 34960
120 TTSX or 110 TTSX are worth looking at too.
Additionally that thick copper base seen in the cutaway pic is designed for max penetration
I thumped a sika stag a week ago at 20yrds with my saum and the 140bt @3200fps, --that base and jacket was under the skin on the far side !!!!!
Needless to say i never found any lead :)
140NBT I'm running 44.5gn 2208 for 2780fps out Rem 700 22"
Who is running the 120TTSX in their 7mm08? Should be safely 3000fps and useful.
140gr BT - 43.2gr 2208 - Fed 210 - Papua brass @ 2740fps (20" tube).
Kills like lightning from 0-500 yards.
How about the 150LRAB? Anyone?
Yep figures[emoji106]
140 gamekings and 2208.......
150 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip with 2206H. Sorting load weight currently.
I recommend 130gn Speer projectiles. They worked brilliantly for me in the 7mm08. Shot some big red stags with them and fallow with good results. PLUS a hell of a lot cheaper than Barnes, Berger etc.
I've been working up a load for my sako 75 7mm08. I'm shooting 140gn BT. 45 gns of 2208 with a federal 210 primer. Winchester brass.
Shot a group today at 0.55". The chrony said it was honking too. 2945 FPS. Pretty happy.
What barrel length does that Sako have Nathan?
I'm guessing it's 21". It's had an inch chopped off for the suppressor. I think they are 22" standard arnt they ?
