Should do the trick. I used 140 accubonds in my 7saum. Only shot one deer with it though. Killed it. I use 160 accubonds in my 7mm mag. That kills things as well.
I went with the 140 accubonds so they would fit in the magazine without taking up as much powder space. 65gr 2213sc gave about 3000 fps. Probably could have got more velocity, but they worked and shot ok.

I have used 140 ABs at about 3000 fps and they are great killers out to 350m (as far as I shot them). The faster they are going the better they seem to work.

What's the attraction to the AB's? Not being smart, just interested.

Im still running 162 Amax in my 7Saum @ 3k and have shot deer from 200 to 500+ yards with them and they have worked and killed very well. I have them seated long to just touch so don't fit the mag.

I run 150gr SGK's as a mag fit spook and shoot load and have shot deer at around 30-40 yards with them.

I also run 150 NBTs in my 284 at a tad under 3k and they have performed very well from 20 yards to 400 odd.

@Ginga not the answer you are after but i run the 150 LRAB in my 7mmsaum at 3100. In my 7mm08 at 2750 they worked perfect at 10m and 200m yet to get a chance in the saum

The reason for the 160 ab idea is I've been using 160 tmks out a fair way (500+) and they work well but fragile. Thought accubond to 400 might be a good idea.

Plenty of SAUMs about by the looks .Am running the 160 NABs in mine and also SGKs with RE17. Quite accurate but I wouldnt know how fast their going and havnt shot anything with them yet.
Use 140 NABs in 708 and they kill good

Used 160 NAB in 7mm WSM with Win 780 for 3020 fps, and now with RL26 at 3120 fps in a 23" barrel. In my experience a tough bullet that works best into heavy bone for good expansion, holds together well.
Just going to take a look around the next bend...

AB's to 300 - 400 yds should work well, but as other have stated they are a bonded pill so need to be driven fast & preferably thru bone to get best terminal results (expansion). Up close you'll have no issues at all. I would work on 2000 - 2200 fps as the limit for distance. Personally I prefer partitions - terminal performance is better due to the frangible front end but the bonded base will drive thru pretty much anything. .... 40+ yrs on they're still trying to design a better projectile .

I use them in 280AI which I’m sure you are aware has very similar ballistic performance to the SAUM.

No complaints with terminal performance up close but as the range extends past 300m and the velocity decreases I have found that they have a tendency not to expend as much as I’d like them to. I use the AMAX in this situation.

Lucky for me both shoot to the same POI.

Yeah that was my line of thought with the AB's, that they may be too solid for certain distances. We all know that the 162 Amax is pretty frangible hence it still expanding very well at lower impact velocity. The closest ive shot deer with them is 200 yards, and the Amax still performed beautifully. Id rather use a bullet that expanded very well imparting a heap of shock and anchoring it where it stands, than use a bullet that is too heavily constructed and not expand that well.

Im not bothered if i make a mess of the front shoulders, i cant carry all the meat off a decent red anyway.

I used the 160 accubond out to 300yds and it worked well on a big red hind. Used a 140gr at 200ydw on a red stag. They were my spook and shoot load. Switched to amax at about 300yds.

Shame about their poor (by today"s standards) BC.

Rightio Stug has kindly donated some 150 lrabs to me to try. Will see how they shoot. If no good will get some standard 160 abs. Thanks Stug! Top man.

What about the 162 eld X? Seem to work well out of the saums and rem mags at most ranges?
