708-X Bolt 16 inch is slow

Xbolt 708, barrel is 16 inch-
loading 130 Speer hot cor for Sika up close.

Struggling to get to 2600 with 2206h/1grain over max.

    Any suggestions for powder change?

Also will probably try 150 SGK as suggested by others- if velocity is similar will go that way.

    Thanks
    Ants

Tikka 595 barrel 16 inch 9.5 twist (suppressed)
loading 130 speer hot cor to max 300yards
    1/2- 3/4 inch @ 100yds
    I get 2800fps with 45.0 CFE223 powder (1/2grain below max.)

Or you can stay within 300 yards and keep life a lot simpler.

yeh but does 08 and 09 burn fast enough to be any use in a 16 barrel? I though thats why ya use 2206h- burns fast before proj exits barrel.

49-50 grns W760 should get you close to 2900. BLC-2 and CFE223 should too. Ive used them all and currently using CFE223 for 3k from 18" (120 grn). You can interchange BLC-2 and CFE223. 120 grn Sierra is a good bullet but so is the 130 Speer.

I can give you some BLC-2 and W760 to try if you want. PM me if you do.

BLC-2 gives me 2800 from the 18" barrel with 140 Berger.

This is the exact load I was about to work up to in my rifle, so interested to hear that.

I don't have a chrono but will report back on accuracy. If I don't have much joy with 2206 I'll give cfe223 a whirl for sure.

    I use cfe223 in 308 and 8 x 57. I use 2208 in 708 and 350RM. I could use either/or for all but the loads are set and I can't be bothered changing.
    Like both these powders
