    7mm-08 with ADI Powder

I have run into a problem with the ADI powder load data in the 7mm-08
I purchased a 7-08 for a back up/small person rifle more the latter
I am loading 120 grain sierra projectiles and I am getting VERY flat primers with minimum charge 2206h 2208 and 2209 data off the web site I know about different case volume etc cases trimmed
Is anyone out there loading 120gn sierra with adi powder what is your load
If you don't want to put up on public viewing pm me please

Hey mate I loaded some for a young fella here. I used 120 sierra pro hunter, fed 210 primer, Hornady brass, 49.0gr 2209. Book start is 48.0gr - Max is 50.0C.

Check your sizing of the cases, it may not be pressure but brass that has been sized too much.

Possibly excessively sizing the case, pushing the shoulder to far back and creating to much headspace.

Edit: k95 coverex it. Should have read his post before I posted!

    yup, sounds like headspace issue

do you have a hornady headspace gauge ? measure a fireformed case and a resized case.

or make yourself a diy headspace gauge - epoxy a couple of nuts together and cut a slot for your vernier blade. the hole size in the nut you're looking for should be as close to .400 inch as you can get, so M10 should be sweet if my maths brain is in gear today

The rifle may headspace fine on go/no go guages but what we are saying is when you run your brass through your full length sizing die it could be bumping the shoulder too far back and therefore creating too much headspace. If you are not directly measuring how much the die is moving the shoulder back with a guage that could be the problem.

If you've made the case too short it will slam back into the bolt face and you will get a very flat primer.

    so you chamber is good.

just measure the cases and adjust the FL die accordingly, problem solved. you're going to end up using the FL die eventually, so you're going to have to set it up either way.

buy some factory ammo and see if it does the same.

Also what powder measure are you using?

Works great with factory and using digital scales and powder scoop I don't use a powder thrower
    Scales calibrated before using
