    7mm-08 lower velocity projectile ?

Looking at hunting projectiles for my 7mm-08 bushpig.

Barrel is 14 inches, so getting 2350 to 2400 with the 162 Amax

Anyone have experience with Amax performance at slower velocities ? Or would I be better off looking at a different projectile ?

@7mmsaum interested to hear your comments...

AMAx’s terminal performance, long range, really kicks in from 2600 fps and down, remains good all the way down to 1600-1800 FPS, so at 2300-2400 your in the sweet spot.

Yeah my question was going to be how far will you be shooting them?

My saum has the amax starting off at 3k, but by 700 yards it's down to 2040 fps and 1500 ft-lb, and they still perform extremely well at that, and I'm sure they will still perform well to even lower impact velocity just fine.

You probably won't find a better bullet suited to the job.

are you taking short range??? if so look at ones made for the 7mm waters.....a necked down 30/30 that should be right about the speed you wanting.

Mate of mine shoots a std tikka and we got it going with 120g serrias doing above 3000,
It’s a laser and flattens game
290m was his longest on the hunt we just went on and it didn’t get up

I shoot the 162gr Amax at 2640fps. 0-600yards and stuff just dies. Really quick too!

As it happens that's the exact rifle & & projectile I used today, they are only going 2800fps but man they are aggressive,

The Pig & Goats we got today weren't overly impressed with them only 175 - 185 yards though

I would think any of those long range projectiles designed to work down to 16-1800 fps would be great.
The likes of the Berger's or Hornady ELD-M. (Suspect the ELD-X won't work so well at the lower velocities).
Nb The ELD-M is the new version of the Amax you are using.
While I have shot goats and deer with the bergers, at this stage I have only shot goats with the ELD-M
