Obviously you know work up to loads but I just sussed a mates 18" tikka seated to the lands with 39gr of 2206h getting 2660fps in lapua brass and magnum primers getting about 0.7moa . Wouldn't go any hotter as was at the limit of my pressure signs. Means he has plenty of oomph a long way out but still not.doing silly speeds up close so shouldn't worry about over expansion
Sweet yeah just kinda wonted to know where to start, we run 2206h at the moment with 139sst. Was going to start at 40gr, but will take your advice on board and maybe start at 38 and work up in 0.5 gran until we start seeing signs then back off slightly and hope she groups ok
I load for two 7mm 08 rifles, one a Ruger M77 the other a Tikka T3. In the Ruger I load 40 grs of AR 2208 for 2700 fps in a 20 inch barrel the Tikka is the same length ( I think) and I load 41 grains of AR 2208 for 2740 fps COAL is 73 mm. If you have some 2208 it's worth a try. These loads are both using the 150 gr ELD X and both guys love the performance of the bullet.
I am using 45.1gr of 2209, using Federal 210M primers and Federal brass loaded at 2.910" COAL.
Average velocity is 2838fps. This is just a simple hunting load for my dad's rifle
How did you get on with eldx @dale
So far I made it to 39.5 gr of ar2206h and was getting 2570fps. Out of a 16inch and would group about an inch at 100
What I noticed was the groping getting better the faster it went and had no signs yet so I will go 40 next and keep going until I see signs of pressure or bad groups
Main aim is to see 2600-2700 FPS max and I’ll be happy ish
Have you thought of trying the 162s, or is that pushing things into 7rm country?@dale
Oh shit I just realised the load I gave you was for 162eldx. Was going to try the 150eldx but didn't need too
