    7mm rem mag

    Hi guys,

I have just bought a new 7mm barrel for my R8. I was wondering what ppl loads were?? I have loaded up some 154gr with 70gr Ar2225. I have started with an oal of 3'270 see how it goes?? Im not a massive wrap on the sst but had no amax and only light 120gr ttsx so this was it.

Running 72g 2225, Norma brass and 162AMax in a R93. Jumping about 0.025" IIRC. I think I might find more speed with 2217 but cannot be bothered as already doing 2990.

The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds

Running 162 Amax at 62.9Gr of IMR 7828 in both Federal and Norma Brass, runs about 2895 ave with the suppressor. Its a T3 lite so the jump to fit the round in the mag is 0.112" and the COAL is 3.330. Note over the SAMI spec but considering the jump... meh! (after a wee mini meltdown when I realised - Thnx 7mmSaum for the advice)

Shoots real well sub .5 moa depending on how fast your firing the rounds, as it tends to walk up and to the left at 10.30 hrs Barrel heat is the real accuracy killer for this load.

I also run a factory 140gr Norma Barnes TTSX round as my first round in the bush for close work. Devastating and POI is consistently only about a inch lower than the Amax at 100m.

    Just a couple of thoughts...

FYI I have yet to load anything in my two Blaser barrels that doesn't like to be jumped. Don't know why but just touching always shoots like shit in my barrels.

I run two loads in my T3 7mm RM. IIRC they are:

0-250yds: 160 Nosler Accobond, Norma brass, Fed 215GM primers, AR2217 (Can't remember amount), seating to fit mag, MV: 2800fps. Shoots honest 3/4 - 1.0 MOA groups.

250yds+: 162 Hornady Amax, Norma brass, Fed 215GM primers, 75.5gr AR2225 (Compressed), 0.020" jump (single feed), MV: 3050fps. Shoots 1/2 MOA groups and far better when I am doing my job right. I tried to seat these at mag fit but the accuracy was inconsistent.

Note: groups are only validated out to 400yds as that is as far as I have been able to shoot paper.

Have you had many deer run off after absorbing the 160g Accubond? Or very delayed kills ?

I refuse to use the 160AB now but am very happy with the 140AB or 162g Amax at any distance.

I've shot a couple of deer with 160AB from a 7mm mag. From memory about three red hinds a red spiker. All dropped on the spot.

@7mmsaum I have had the opposite results.

So far with this rifle I have shot 4 deer with the 160g Accubonds and all have dropped on the spot. All shot in through the shoulder at <250yds. I have had delayed kills on the 3 deer I have shot using the 162g Amax's (ranges from 290-420yds).

I have used the 130gr Accubond in my .270win exclusively for the past 5 years and every animal shot has dropped instantly (ranges 20-320yds). This includes Reds (hinds, spikers, stags), Fallow, Goats.

Interesting. So was that at range so reduced speed ?
    Pencilled through?
What about the 150 LRAB anyone using this projectile in the 7RM?
