Yeah the old 284 win is a pretty effiecient cartridge when run in a long action where you can seat bullets right out to make best use of the full case capacity. I have two 284's a 22" and a 17". The 22" hardly ever gets used now, as the 17" one is much handier and suppresed so just easier all round. And i have a 22" 7mm SAUM.
I like the 284's but honestly going 7 Rem Mag is a whole lot easier. Buy a factory 7RM, and be done with it, brass is easier, no pissing around with necking up 6.5 lapua, no drama with having to neck turn (if you used a tight neck reamer like i did when i did my T3 708 to 284 conversion).
Koozas 20" T3 7RM is near the perfect all rounder really, and very easy and low cost to achieve it. Job done
a 7RM at 20” vs a 7 Saum at 20”? Any real world difference?
Worth the bang and buck?
I’d have a 284 at 20” over the rem mag any day of my god-forsaken week.
