Looking for speed and accuracy.

VIVA LA HOWA
162, 2225, around 74gr id start at 71
or n560 for more speed
Dont waste your time chasing every last fps, it doesnt matter in the real world, it wont make a difference, all it will do is cause head aches and frustrations. And dont listen to silly old cunts
I'm running a tikka 7mm RM 24" varmint barrel. The load I run is 70g 2217, 162 amax seated at mag length. Gives me 2950fps shooting 0.6 moa.
I have used 68g of 2213sc which gives me the same velocity and less muzzle flash, but the groups open up to 1 moa.
I have pushed the 2217 up to 72g, which lifts velocity up to 3080, but the 70g load is hot enough for what I want, and hopefully everything should last a bit longer
I'm onto my 7th reload in some of my brass, so its lasting ok.
Seemingly infected with X chromosomes every rifle is different, the one load will not suit all.
Start at 70 grains of ADI2217 or 2225 with 160/162g projectiles and work up from there.
72-73g of 2217 and 73-74g of 2225 are popular.

Yeah we realise that every rifle is different but just after some known starting points to try to make the exercise quicker and easier on the pocket.

I am using the starting load for 162 AMax of 67grs with 2217, gives me 2850fps and shoots bug hole groups.
Went up to max load during development and although no pressure signs the groups opened up to around 4 inches!
Tested it out to 600yds and she is mint.
Only use AMaxs on goats and paper, anything larger I use 150gr ttsxs.
"Here's the deal I'm the best there is. Plain and simple. I wake up in the morning and I piss excellence."
Amaxs work sweet. Even close, there just messy. Normally very easy to get going accurately too. I wouldnt bother with two loads now ive seen what they can do

Hence the common colloquialism "Amax'd"

My Rem 700 pushes the 162 Amax at 3100 using 73gn of 2225. Shoots a bit under an inch but the gun is bog standard and I havent played around with loads too much. Its getting a McMillan this week and a bedding job so will see how we go. This was just touch so I might play around with seating depth a bit more aswell.
Where are most of you seating your Amaxs?
Within 5 thou of the rifling lands if you can, or if you have a Tikka, X Bolt or A bolt then mag fit ammo has perfectly acceptable accuracy, often better than the just touch loads.
Sako's will allow you a just touch load and still be mag fit.

My rem 700 .300wsm runs 168g amax with 74grns of a reloaders powder, it runs about 3340ish and is super accurate seated to mag length.
Last time i chronied them it was either 3260 or 3340 i cant remember now, had a mate run the ballistics for it and done the chart for it which i tweaked.
0=100 200=1moa 300=2.5moa 400=4.75moa and 500=6.75 and a sheep at 580 was 8.25moa.
If thats not right then hey im wrong, no biggy i still shot gongs at those settings.
I can happily get just over 3200fps out of my 26" 30-06 imp with the 168 Amax
I would say 3260 ish would be about right, but I haven't done anything with the 300wsm
