    7mm RM powders of choice

So I started reloading for 7mmRM 6 months ago and it's time to stock up again on components and want to try that greener grass on the other side.
ADI 2225 was what I used last time going off ADI's rifle loading data.

Who uses ADI 2217 or Reloader 26?

I'm either going to load 162gr a-max or 180 gr Berger so I need a powder suited for a heavier projectile out of a 24" tube.

also if anyone here has any other good experience with other projectiles for tahr it would be interesting to hear.

Last load was with 154gr SST in front of 2225, shot really well and kills tahr very well. but again there might be a better round out there and that's the fun of hand loading.

    Feel free top chime in.

I would have thought that 2225 behind a 180gn Berger would be a good start.
I'm using 2225 with a 180gn hybrid VLD Berger. But also have a load of 2217 with similar speed.
Haven't had a chance to check which is most accurate and consistent load

2217 gives up good velocity and outstanding accuracy in my 7mm Mag, pushing 180 Berger VLD's at 2900fps with 70gns, 3050 with 73, VLD's kill shit deader than dead!

168g burger vld and 71g of 2217 worked great in my 2 7mm at around 3060fps

I'm surprised with those velocities out of a 27" barrel,
I do wonder if the powder choice would be different in such a long barrel like that.
Alliant's website give really good velocities with the A-max out of a 24" tube like mine.

The one problem I had with 2225 in the last load was I couldn't fit enough powder into the case, It was pretty chocker with a large amount of compression and I reckon I never would have been able to get pressure signs. the powder is just too fat.

Like @distant stalker said. The 2225 powder is better with the heavier projectiles or already that's what I have found.
I have a 7/300wsm (different obviously, but very similar in internal capacity), I have found my upper limit with the 2225 and a 180 berger. The load is slightly compressed from memory.

I used to use 2213sc with lighter .277" projectiles in the 270wsm

    71g of 2225 was the ripper for me with 162 Amax's, just cruising @ 2950fps outta a T3

I got really accurate 162 A-max and 140 Barnes TSX with virtually the same point of impact out of my 7RM using moderate loads of IMR 7828 and was difficult to choose a best load out of the ladder I shot intially as there was a really nice wide sweetspot.

    Just my 2c.

Well I guess I should go with the A-max I guess and 2225,
My goal is to get 3000fps with a hefty projectile. also though the 180gr Berger is the business i think the 162gr Hornady will get the job done and be considerably cheaper, I might also load some up for my 708, It would be good to be able to buy just the one projectile for my Tahr gun as well as my dear gun.
I have a 1:9.5 twist so the 168gr Berger is out of the picture as they require a 1:10 or higher according to Gunworks' website.
I would try the 2217 but I can't find if it is more dense or not, Does anyone know how much they can squeeze in behind a 162?

I'm using another two and a bit grains of 2217 compared to 2225 for a load.
I think you will find that your 1:9.5"twist is tight enough for the 168 berger. But not quick enough for the 180s
