Agreed. I’ve never had a problem with them. But the rumour that they break up or “explode” persists... Especially in the UK.
At very close range (say 30m) but slower than yours (308) I have found the BT Hunting unlikely to exit on heavy reds but it’s not like that is a problem because the animals haven’t made much more then a couple of steps. The bits that I have found inside the carcass demonstrate significant fragmentation of the upper half of the bullet in a hail of small bits. Pulled a couple of bases out from under the offside hide.
I did some casual googling on this earlier and there is still some “grenade” type comments out there.
There’s a good chance some guys get confused between the Varmint variety and the Hunting variety. Two quite different bullets but both marketed under the Ballistic Tip brand.
