130 grain Speer Hot Cor. Flat base ones. I have got these going 2850 fps out of my little carbine barrel. I sort of wanted them faster than that, but they wont do it and groups get too large, even for me and I have loose tolerances.
How is this going to go on red deer from 20m to 200m.
Iv'e never seen a bad Speer bullet and at that speed and range you could be using a ball bearing and it would work! My load in a Remington mod 7 17 inch barrel was 42 grains of 2206H.
It will work just fine and dandy.speer projectiles are USUALLY soft and expand very easily,so the really high velocity would be a disadvantage

They do three inch groups at higher velocity; which is still fine to be honest, I have shot deer successfully with rifles that shot worse. But I paid money for this rifle, and the bullets. So I want them to go better, and faster.

JD..I’m using that bullet in my 7x57 Mauser and getting 2930fps and moa groups with it. Shot several whitetails with it, one at 150yds. Never recovered one of those bullets. Using H-414 powder…
Tried them in my short barreled Mauser and only got 2700fps…they shot good..just slower but killed deer just fine.

Ive lost track of how many ute loads of critters i have taken with these in my 7mm08 .
Soft and quick expanding they were great for sika but held together well on the reds also
