I bloody hope its not for you!
Im an americano double shot....... No latte' here
140gr BT - 42/43gr 2208.
Should easily shoot under an inch with out much drama.
It's the Toyota camry of the firearm world.
+1 for the 140 BTs...good accuracy and knockdown
If its chopped and suppressed, use 2206h rather than the 2208 but both will work
i use 139 sst with 42gr 2206h factory length under 1/2 inc no worries for me
Same load as pop shot 0-500 sorted
2206H is faster burning than 2208 and goes well in shorter barrels.
I've just ordered 2206h and 120gr BT. for my 20" 708 howa,
That Load that Popshot mentioned is a winner ,tryed with 2206h and 2209 with varying sucess ,,,with 2208 seems to be the sweet spot with a std length tikka
Is 120gr better for short range? I'm trying to decide on a projectile for mine I shoot 5m - 400m.
My reasoning for going with the 120gr is, I have 7mmRM so I wont be shooting 400+ with this gun and it's not a heavy gun so I would like the reduced recoil of the lighter round. Also if you look at the BC of the 120 BT it isn't far off a 140gr gameking so it will preform quite well out a bit further if it must.
If you're hunting within 400m then they are a good choice in my opinion on game we have here in NZ
what are you intending to shoot fella ? 120 gn would be ok for fallow or chamois but reds you want 139 -140 gn minimum imo. In fact I'd be looking at 140 - 150 gn partition if you want something up close to 300 yrds.
120gr is more than enough for red deer, I don't see how you can think it isn't. .243win shoots 80-100gr and is also fine for reds.
I know of guys who shoot reeds with 223, I think even the dear stalkers say 22-250 is minimum.
Depends on where you hunt. There's Reds and then there's Reds. The pine forest Red deer around these parts, for example, are really huge, so 139-150gr makes more sense. Some of the locals use 300 Win Magnums.
