    7SAUM primer option

Hey. Looking to pick some brains here. Those who are loading for 7SAUM what's your primer of choice? Magnum or not? I think the rule of thumb is over 60g powder should run a magnum primer but I know of at least one load that shoots great with just LR primers. With Magnum primers being scarce I'd like to start getting some when I can should I need.
    Planning to load 175 ELD-X over 2217 in a 20" 1:8 barrel. ADG brass.

running fed 210s in my 7mm wsm. great accuracy and low es and sd. shot gongs out to a thousand yards and deer out to 500. I've got heaps of them and 215s are either unavailable or a dollar each. fuck that.

    Greetings all,
A Sendero in 7mm SAUM has been in my safe for just on 20 years with only occasional firing and just one trip into the scrub. Early handloads using Winchester WLR primers produced low velocities but excellent accuracy. I later realised that the low velocity was due mostly to the soft projectiles I was using. I did read somewhere that the SAUM gave better accuracy with slightly less velocity (around 80 fps from memory) with standard primers rather than magnums but have yet to test that. This seems to be in line with the above posts. I really should do some testing and F-Open shooting. I note that the Hodgdon data for the .280 AI uses WLR primers with case capacity close to the SAUM.
    Regards Grandpamac.

280AI and 7SAUM from what I understand are ballistic twins

I bought a packet of RWS 5341 primers on impulse. They came as a pack of 250 which is good. I might try these unless anyone has bad experience with them. I believe they are the same primer Norma use in their factory ammo as they share the same parent company.
I have a limited amount of Fed215 as well as CCI200's. The shooter is still months away so I have time to plan with options.

I started with Magnum 215 primers but mine was super fussy to get shooting with them. Tried 210s from @Kelton and it was a night and day difference in accuracy and consistency. Shooting 168 Berger VLDs

210s all day 215s over 70gns not to say they can’t shoot with 215s white rivers sit in the middle in terms of velocity and are epic for accuracy I have loads for 168vld 162eldm and x 175eldx and 180eldm all done on 210s that I changed to WRE with no issues for info sake if your loading hot with 210s and changing to WRE I’d back off a grain and if going to 215 to WRE straight into it
