Interesting video here (if you skip to 2:40) - https://youtu.be/pLA0IkOSbjg The round is new to me, and looks accurate and effective for a subsonic.
Especially interesting is talk of 1:3 and 1:1 twist rifling.

What a great rifle their bolt action folder is
Correct on the bullet diameter. However, I believe bullet weight is intended to be between 280gr - 360gr for subs, specifically so they will stabilise in a 1:3" to 1:4" twist rate barrel.
@Moa Hunter - to my mind, that little bolt action is the perfect "bushpig" rifle.
A straight pull version would be the ducks nuts.
I asked TrueFlite the other day whether they're able to offer it yet but the super fast twists are probably going to require new tooling. Criterion pre-fits might be another option - waiting on a response from them.

Yay for spin drift!
@Bill999, how would one go about getting either of those? You can order Criterion stuff through the wholesaler and TrueFlite are North Island which makes life easier.

I did a fair bit of reading about this cartridge when it first was announced, I can’t help but think it doesn't offer much over 308 unless you really need a tonne of energy at close range.
A 308 with 240gr bullets performs basically the same same as the 285gr 338 bullets, still getting good velocities out of short barrels.
Subsonic the 338 bullets obviously carry more energy but you need to ask the question how much energy do you really need?
The biggest downside I found was 338 bullets are typically twice the price of 30cal which far less availability and weight options.
Both cartridges seemed to use the similar powders so it really comes down to whether you need a huge bullet on target or not.
If you aren't planning to use subsonic loads then it really is questionable if it's worth it or not.
If a non-subsonic 338 hunting cartridge was really that appealing the 338 federal would be far more popular.
I would be careful as to the bullets you use in such a fast twist as 1-3 , as have heard that bullets fly apart due to super fast twist , and only solid copper bullets or bonded stay together , as IF they break up once clear of the muzzle , they can destory a suppressor . So if using you may have to limit the type of bullet used to a narrow select few .
