9.3 x 62? Can you find it in NZ

I have a Blaser R93 with a 9.3 x 62 barrel. Can you find 9.3 x 62 ammo over in NZ? Doing a quick Google search doesn't seem to bring up many options. Will I have to reload my own ammo? I can also buy a 30.06 barrel while here in Europe before I relocate to NZ next year so trying to determine if that would be a better choice than coming with something you can't find ammo for.

9.3 x 62 seems very popular here in Europe but I'm not sure if I'm going to be SOL in finding ammo in NZ if I come with that barrel.

A quick Google search and I see a few places with it in stock.
Buy a box of each and see what your rifle prefers

Plenty of guys reload for it on here

I had one on an R93 and used it like most kiwis use a 308

They are super easy to reload for and shot every bullet I ever tried accurately and to the same point of aim

Then buy a heap of the one that has the accuracy, terminal performance and price you want

I’ve found that the PPU 286 gr stuff is pretty good
He nui to ngaromanga, he iti to putanga.

You depart with mighty boasts, but you come back having done little.
Sounds like a typical hunting trip !

    PPU ammo was just fine
PPU bullets were cheap and accurate
    Norma bullets were excellent
Swift A Frame 300 grainers were impressive

But funny thing is I never did recover a bullet from an animal

On a separate note, would 9.3x62 even be good for NZ hunting? Generally out here in Romania we're hunting wild boars but they're much larger than what you probably find in NZ (150+ KG is pretty average). Shooting distance are usually 75-150m. I know that 9.3x62 isn't a great long-range cartridge so I thought about maybe buying a 30.06 barrel instead and leave the 9.3x62 behind. I'm not really sure what the typical shooting distances are for you guys. When I did a guided hunt near Wellington last year we shot out at around 150-200m but I'm not sure if in general you need a better long range cartridge for New Zealand.

    Not really ideal in NZ
The 30-06 you mentioned will do all you need
The 9.3 is good in the bush but vastly more than you need.

I played around with the 9.3 because I liked big powerful rifles.
Then I discovered Black Powder and got into 50 cals and let the 9.3 go.

A decent 30 cal will do everything you want in nz

Buy the 3006 barrel and bring it with you.
I'll buy it off you when you get it here.
They are hard to find here.

If you like the r93, then I would definitely go through the motions, and bring it with you to nz. Along with any additional barrels etc you may want in the future.

Bring every bit of 93 stuff you can. If you don't want it you can always sell it.
    I need a R93 3006/270 mag insert.
