Anyone have a load for AP70 with 124gr projectiles?
Anyone have a load for AP70 with 124gr projectiles?
I haven't used it for a few years but use to load 3.8gs with a 124 Lapua bullet not hot but take care I think max was 4.2 grs in my Taurus could load higher in my Kimber 1911
follow reloading rule number 1 be cautious.
I used it in both .40 and 9mm
But with a 115 cast in 9 and was between 3.6-3.8 grn to reach PF iirc.
Very consistent but it burned dirtier than what I use now in my shadow and a mates glock with SR primers.
Using up some cheap N320 now which is an awesome and cleaner burning powder but friggen too dear to replace.
Got 10kgs of cheap titegroup coming for my 40 loads.
Should last a while😆

Do what ya want! Ya will anyway.
I use 3.8g AP70 with 124 g lead . CZ 75 and glock ok.
The load data for 125 GR. SIE FMJ listed 4.3gr as the minimum getting 1031 fps. Tried 4.4gr and got 135pf . I'll drop it back a little.
I tried 4.2 with 124gn in a cz75, was OK. But bloody dirty, and a pain to meter in a 650.
Paid and will pay again, just to use N320...
Please excuse spelling, as finger speed is sometimes behind brain spped........ Or maybe the other wayy.....
Didn't cronie, was really put off by the Shit that it left behind after about 50 shots, that I gave the remaining powder away and burnt what was in the powder measure (nice flame )

N320 is a bloody good powder. Burns clean and I always seem to get a low ES over the chrony.
I get around 1650 .40 loads from 500 grams and around 2100 for 9mm.
Works out between 3 and 4c a round at last price I purchased it at.
I have 1.5kg left. I will then change to titegroup as I got 10kg for a good deal.
AP 50 and 70 are good value as well but too dirty in my guns.

I reckon you don't need that N320, as titegroup will do you fine, I'll give you the same coin as the titegroup, plus 10%.......

Even in a pistol cartridge the time of year has an effect on velocity.
Most comps apart from the South Islands are during the warmer months so if I do any development this time of year I try to get just on PF.
Often just seating the projectile back a bit more will give good gains if your gun will cycle them.
