Going to be loading some 180gr Accubonds, what powder are others using for these in 300wsm?
Cheers,

When I had my one I used 65 grs of AR2209 for about 2970 fps. I think it is a bit over book max so work up to your safe max. Rifle was a Ruger 77 MKIi
That was with the 180 gr Accubonds
Superformance powder is meant to be good in the 300WSM
I was looking at hybrid 100V. Thinking that I should give it a try and then have a look at ADI.
I’m getting pretty impressive speeds with 100V with 180 Bergers - around 3050 fps. Have some more load dev to settle on most accurate load but it looks likely to be north of 3000fps
Is the Hogdon powder pretty temperature stable?
Dunno, its a fairly new powder released by Hogdgon. In general most new powders seem to claim they are more temp stable .... whether that true or marketing BS who knows. But in NZ conditions I doubt there's enough temp variation to really worry too much about.
99% of time NZ will be 15C +/- 10C. I guess if you're chasing Tahr mid winter in extreme weather then thats a bit different. Even then I'd be keep the ammo in my pocket anyways.
RL 17 is bloody good, 62gr with 200gr eldx doing 2920, nothing gets away.
Hey @Blackmac what sort of ranges are you using the 200gr eldx's at?
20-600yards , rifle is an xbolt 23 inch barrel. Topped with a vx3 4.5 -14 Boone & Crockett reticle. Check coal tomorrow, been using this load for about 3 year's I'll never change.
I bought the 300wsm for bull thar and red stags but use it for meat hunting as well so I get practice and gets the job done. I find the eldx don't do heaps damage to smaller animals like fallow and more damage to reds and Bulls. At about 450yards I'll find the projectile just under the skin on the opposite shoulder mushroomed as it shows on the box and at a guess 70% of its weight. Shoulder shoot everything and there dead on the spot.
