Thread: AMP annealer MK2 codes for a few of my cals

I know this is fairly new but im putting these out there to see if anyone has had any similar results using the "Analyse mode"
Quite an interesting thing to do eh. If i had a single round look more annealed than the others in a batch, sure enough it would measure to be thinner in the neck wall than the others, and only by 1thou.

Im hoping to see if anyone has done a .223 in the new mk2 program?

You will also get differences fired neck/versus sized neck.

Here's some early playing I did when I got my machine -
CAC 308W. Necks 14 thou IIRC. Ran analyse on 4 cases and got 0150, 0151, 0149, 0151. Asked AMP Alex about these results and he said pretty good.
223R Hornady range pickups. Didn't measure necks. 0128, 0129.
223 F-C Range pickups. Didn't measure necks. 0128.
308W F-C Range pickups. 0160. (Different to CAC.) @Dead is better

Have since done 7.5x55 SR, 308W Lapua Palma (0160), 6mm BR Lapua, 6.5x47L Lapua.
The 7.5x55 SR I only have a limited number of cases and didn't want to sacrifice any. I looked up the standard settings and did 2 cases at std, then 2 cases just either side of std. Alex checked them using his Vickers tester and we settled on a std value for those.

My values may be different to what others may get if there are slight machine to machine differences, although if there are I would have thought they would be minor.

All brass annealed in their fired unsized state.
The 308 Palma brass I selected a case to analyse in the middle of the weight range.
Sacrificing brass hurts but interestingly the last 2 lots off Lapua I got had 101 cases in the box. (Maybe someone got 99..)

I was trying not to lose any 7mmRM Sako brass (for my good mate) so i went in with the lowest Hornady setting with that thickness. It did not seem to anneal much at all, so i went up to the higher setting and it worked noticeably better.

Lapua 260 0170 which seems to be common consistency from what I've read.

Brother was annealing Lapua 260 using 0170 which was working perfectly. Had a couple of RP cases in with it by accident. Destroyed them as their code is 0141. Definitely precise

Gotta break a few eggs to make an omelette!
I wonder if there is a noticeable difference if you march an intact sequence of load development brass across the annealer. If the start loads are softer than the hottest.

hi guys... I've recently got an annealer (used mainly for load development for a 6.5grendel)... I need to anneal some 308 brass (OSA ADI)... I've only got 30-35, so I don't want to waste a shell by running the test... has anyone else got an AZTEK code for 308 OSA brass? thanks

AMP have one example of 308W ADI in their standard settings. You could try that. Difficulty is knowing if you have been effective.

I have some ADI brass but it could be different to yours enough so that it makes a difference.
I could roast a couple for you to get an AZTEC number but again it may not be correct.
Let me know and I'll do it. Give me your neck thickness.
