    Annealing machines?

So, who on here has one or more to the point - who has built there own?

I'm keen to make one myself and am after some words of wisdom from those who have already done one of there own? What worked well, What things would you change? etc...

Photo's would be greatly appreciated too.

    Cheers

Thanks for the links. Those are both awesome! I've seen variations of both, but those two incorporated a case turning feature that worked when the main disc is static, which is very cleaver. I'll give it some more thought and see if any more ideas surface?

Ah youtube! Okay, this is my new favourite Home built annealer with case feeder - YouTube but I can't see why it needs the stepped case feed, as I thought the holes in the disc would have done the same thing? Maybe it needs the longer drop?

I like the auto case feed, is it turning the cases in the heat? Can't see on phone.

Tho the auto feed would be largely unnecessary unless your into some kind of commercial operation ?

Yeah mate, there's a lot going on with that last one. As it indexes it land the shell on a little wheel that is mounted flush with the table, the little wheel rotates the brass case when the heat is on... very sexy!

But it can be done much simpler.

I'm in the process of building an annealer.

Keeping it simple due to not having large volumes to do ... something along these lines.

I like it, but I can't help but think the addition of a car window wiper crank system added to the ''slide'' would make it so much better, as it would take the guess work out of the time spent in the flame?

Sounds like a good improvement KJ.

BTW I'm using a car window wiper motor and reduction box for the rotary action.

I think an anything that automates time and rotation in the flame is the go .
Consistency is key or you may as well not bother.

Cool, keep us posted if you go ahead with it.

I'm multi-tasking with about 5 browser windows open at once looking at motor bike disc breaks, clutch pressure plates...basically anything pre-made that's round with holes around the circumference that could be purchased off trademe for next to nothing that may work as part of a rotary table? Getting lots of cool ideas...just gotta settle on a final design?

The time in the flame must be controlled and constant. to much heat and it will travel into the body of the case and ruin it.

The video above with the case feeder has a link to here home built case annealer "op updated 10/28/12 with final pics and running video" - Page 1 - AR15.COM

I have a DXF file of the plate drawn up, just need to get it cut. I have a windscreen motor for the turner arm. Will run a speed controller from the like of Jaycar.

Interested to see others ideas here.
