No, don't bother unless the meplat hole dia is 24 thou or more

    I have done a zillion 180g and 300 g Bergers

Yes, and they need that meplat dia to expand reliably on light thin skinned game at lowered velocities

Actually anyone using Bergers or similar J4 jacketed projectiles for hunting will find its a good idea to inspect the tip of their projectiles (meplat)

Any meplat holes that are smaller or have closed up set them aside for range work as I'd say the closed tips have been responsible for the highest percentage of "non killing" " non expanding" "zip through" type hits on animals.

I find the 68gr Hornady .224 has a tiny meplat hole but man it fragments at typical AR velocities. Not really the same thing though, was looking at the 155gr Scenars for my .308, had been told they're too hard

Some of my berger 300grn hunter elite look like they have terrible consistency in the meplat area... cant be good for terminal performance. The ones that I have used certainly work tho.

    Perazzi,
I often push a pin into them to even them up, there is an 8mm deep cavity behind the jacket tip so no internal damage is caused, the gen ones only had a 6mm cavity.
