    Another.410 reloading question.

I recently bought some lathe turned brass cases.

    https://www.nzhuntingandshooting.co....-cases-110919/

Today I had a look to see if a normal plastic wad would fit in one of these and it does, and snugly.
These are relatively thick walled brass cases, with the smaller payload of shot compared to a 3” shell.

    1. Can anyone tell me who makes these cases, I am 90% certain they aren’t home made. They take a normal 209 shot shell primer.

    2. Is there anything I need to consider differently or in addition compared to loading plastic hulls.

    Hi Longshot
i wondered who got these as it was before i had access to the buy/sale
are they 3 inches long as the more common Magtech are only 2 1/2 in and thin walled
I have reloaded the non factory brass from Norma 9.3 x 74 R brass 2 3/4 inches long
look at " Everlasting 410 in the forum " and the only real consideration hahaa just dont lose them
    Happy hunting

These ones are just over 2-1/4” long. My .410 only has an extractor as opposed to an ejector, so at least no risk of brass launching over the right shoulder into the long grass.

    Hey Longshot 410 shooter
i changed my Rossi 410 to a lower weighted spring to extract rather than eject and get a heavy brass case in the eye
Have you tried Round soft lead .451 balls x 10 grains of Trail Boss as a load they go through the various chokes O K
Are you suppressing your barrel only really work if you load to subsonic though
    Cheers

Yes, I have a suppressed baikal. It isn’t subsonic like the FSS Precision .410s but still much less overt than unsuppressed. I haven’t tried any solid projectiles, I just use it for pesties on lifestyle blocks.

Hey When you start reloading for a 410 long deep wabbit hole it is hahaa
very easy to make your ammo subsonic and then it rather quiet

I went don this route with the 410, teaching G.Kids to shoot wabbit / possums on 20 acres block
town is moving ever closer with the 22lr use and novice shooters

I would think you will be even safer than with plastic. Pretty sure you will be 100% fine using 2 1/2" data ,the powder charge levels are pretty much of muchness between the two length shells, one has larger payload. TRY loading powder, wad then see if can fit 1/2 or 3/4 Oz of shot in remaining case space...if can fit 3/4 Oz treat as a 3" shell and load accordingly.

As long as the wad goes in snugly, is that enough to be confident that it will be not too loose, and not too tight (not too much pressure)?, It feels like you could pump water with it but it isn't a struggle to seat in into the shell.

What sort of data did you use to get it to subsonic, that is the ideal for me. You are welcome to PM it to me if like some you aren't comfortable sharing data publicly.

Snug will be good. Reducing the powder charge gradually won't take much to get you to below 1000fps when you consider most 3" loads are 1100 ish to begin with.

Hi Long Shot Mr .Duck is right as my loads would be very different in my bang stick than yours
i run a fairly short tube /ported full choke and suppressed all rolled into one in that order
very easy carry as light n short
Ive set up a led light under barrel that can be adjusted for POI and the circle of light dia changed to match the spread of shot
so @ night one just has to get the light on the subject and even from the hip ............
