Is that the speer 75gr varmint with the big hollow point?
I got caught out with some old ones a few years back. Had some leftovers I inherited and wanted to use up, but not enough to justify using 10 for working up a load.. Figured I'm cool got a strong modern bolt action. So I just went to a load say 1-2gr under book max after looking at 2 or 3 sources.
Well that was a mistake as I had a stiff bolt lift on the second shoot. some time later I was talking with my Dad and he laughed and said he had had the same experience with them.
Moral of the story, start at book minium and work up.
There must be something in the shape and construction of them, long bearing surface and maybe a thicker jacket to control that Hugh hollow point.
